BUST OUT YOUR BULBS (GROWING IN DARK CORNERS)

Words by Jessica Peace

Last week we banged on about busting out your bulbs early by dunking them in water. If you want to grow a few more - or you’re too clumsy to be trusted around delicate vases then shoving your bulbs in dark corners is the way to go.

WHO CAN I DO IT TOO?

Although we like the sweet smelling ones best - hyacinths and daffs, you can force crocus, fritillaries (VERY sexy flower), anemones and tulips too.

WHERE TO SHOVE THEM?

Fridge first for 10 weeks minimum - 15 if you can bare it, then find yourself your dark corner… shed or garage if your posh enough, otherwise the back of the cupboard will do as long as it’s not too warm, pot them up and shove them in.

When shoots appear drag them out into a ‘kinda sunny’ spot in your gaff.

Boom. Early gaff bloom.
