Prayer Plant (Maranta)
Our houseplant friends never forget their roots, and they’ll always be the most content when their surroundings mimic their natural environment. The maranta loves a bright, indirect spot so he’ll thank you for a spot by the window to watch the world go by. He’s at his best when he can literally hang out so if you’re feeling the art bug crack out the macramé cord and craft him a home to spread out his beautifully patterned leaves. He’s a quick grower when you find him the right home and eye catching to boot. What a catch.
A little helping hand - With every houseplant we send out you get a handy little guide to help your new plant live its best life, including where they'll want to live and how often they like to drink.

A regular bather, this cheeky chap likes it wet. If his soil is dry give him a good soaking, but always check that it’s mostly dry before you water him again. He’s not a fan of soggy roots. If he starts throwing out yellow leaves you’re going to want to hold back on the liquid for a bit – you’re drowning the poor guy with your affections.
This houseplant wouldn’t be so stylish if he gave you a stomach-ache, and luckily he’s not toxic to pets or humans. Don't get cocky and have a nibble, though. We can promise he’s not going to taste great.
