LARD ARSE

Words by Jessica Peace

Hang them from your branches, your empty washing lines, window ledges and feed them lovely birds!

STUFFING

You can stuff in any of these as the ‘dry’ mix: bird seed, oats, currants, sultanas, breadcrumbs, peanuts, grated cheese; and for ‘fat’: suet, lard, solid vegetable shortening or set coconut oil.

FAT : DRY

You want one part fat to two parts dry; once you’ve done your maths chuck your fat into a pan and melt, add your dry stuff and mix it up until nice and sticky.

THE POT

Grab a net sack or an empty yogurt pot or spare coconut shell and drill or stab a hole through.

Thread some string through your fat ball or pot to make the tie to swing from and fill your pots with the gooey mix.

Shove in the fridge over night and in the morning remove any plastic stuff or drop in your sack.

Boom. Fat Balls.
