SEEDY BEHAVIOUR

Words by Jessica Peace

I’m pretty liberal towards seed collecting BUT if you are swiping from a public space or park don’t get greedy, leave enough to fall naturally, for the birds to eat and for other seed hoarders share the love.

Ready?

Wait until the seed head is completely brown, often you can see it begin peel open and reveal the seed. Envelopes are the easiest way to collect seed on the hoof but once you’ve got your hoard remove any excess dirt and store in an air tight container (old biscuit tin, Tupperware etc.) until you’re ready to plant next spring.
