This little stunner is borage, also known as starflower - an edible ornamental and medicinal plant with a cucumber kick that's been kicking about for Millenia.

THE DEETS

According to Pliny the Elder, when borage leaves and petals are put into wine, it ‘makes men and women glad and merry, and drives away all sadness, dullness and melancholy’ - with such commendations, it’s no surprise that this cucumber-tasting edible flower has became a favourite to garnish a G&T with.

Not only do they make a darling edition to a summer cocktail, they also are a great companion plant for a whole host of veggies, including tomatoes, cabbages, strawberries and squash.
