You might be grabbing an extra posie at the till whilst you’re waiting for your bulbs to spring up. Here’s how to give’em some staying power.

A SPOONFUL OF SUGAR

Just a teaspoon mind, but a sugar hit will give your bloom a boost.

BREAK DRY JANUARY

Apparently, a few drops of vodka in your vase kills any nasties swimming about in the water.

HOT HOT HEAT

Sounds like torture but snip a strong stem like a rose or hydrangea (at a 45 degree angle, natch) and dunk the tip in boiling water (quickly) before plonking it in your vase.
